We all need some support in managing our emotional well-being and self -care. You may want help to focus and set goals and reflect on how you are using your energy. Are you focusing on your fears and thinking of everything that could go wrong or are you able to see all the possibilities and options you may have. You may be feeling as if you are not here and present, as if your mind is always switching off and thinking of worse case scenarios. You may need to unlearn patterns of behaviour that are no longer working for you and the messages you have learned in your upbringing such as “you are being selfish” or “you only care about yourself” when all you want is a break to take care of your own needs and focus on your own goals for a while.

 

Self-care is not being selfish. It is OK for you to say “No”. It is OK for you to have healthy personal boundaries and boundaries with others. The idea of upsetting someone or conflict with another person can leave us anxious and as if we have no choice. This doesn’t have to be a daunting process. You may be self sabotaging if you feel you don’t deserve all you know you can achieve.
